This is a vintage c. 1940's stainless steel Bovet Mono Rattrapante Chronograph, caliber 4001. It has a shell cordovan strap with a stainless steel tang buckle, and an acrylic crystal. There is a solid snap-on case back engraved with "FOND – ACIER INOXYDABLE, (Stainless Steel)" and the serial number. It has an oval-shaped pusher on the case band at 4'clock for pausing the split-second function, and the round monopusher at 2 o'clock starts, stops, and resets the hand. The 35.3mm diameter solid three-body case, straight angled lugs with fixed bars, and angled bezel are polished/brushed. The original dial is black with gilt luminous Arabic numerals at 11, 12, 1, 5, 6, and 7 o'clock, around a minute/second track with Arabic numerals every five minutes. Outside is a telemeter scale, and around the outer-most perimeter is a tachymeter to 1000 UPH. There are gilt alpha hands with luminous inserts, and a center sweep chronograph hand. There are two subsidiary dials include a constant seconds register at 9 o'clock, and a 30-minute totalizer is at 3 o'clock. The 11.2mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. The mechanical manual winding Bovet caliber 2020 movement is rhodium plated, with fausses cotes embellishment and gilt components. It's constructed with 17 jewels, a monometallic antimagnetic balance, a straight-line lever escapement, a self-compensating Breguet balance spring, and an index regulator.
