This is a platinum Cartier Tortue Grand Modele 2518E. It has an alligator leather strap with the original 18k white gold deployment buckle, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. There is an exhibition sapphire display case back secured with 8 screws, and engraved with "CARTIER – WATER RESISTANT – 2518E – SWISS MADE – Platinum 950," hallmarks, and a serial number. The 34mm by 43 mm barrel-shaped solid two-body case, slightly downturned screwed bar lugs, and rounded art deco bezel, are polished. There are four screws on each side of the band, including two on each side for the lugs, and there is an octagonal cabochon sapphire-set winding crown. The dial is silver guilloche with black painted Roman numeral hour markers, blued Breguet hands, a concentric railroad-style minute track, and the secret Cartier signature is at the 10 o'clock position. It's water resistant and the 10mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Cartier Tortue Grand Modele 2518E has a mechanical manual winding Cartier caliber 430MC rhodium-plated movement. It's engraved with special Cartier decoration, and a signed Cartier rotor. It's constructed with 18 jewels, a shock absorber device, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance, a micrometer regulator, and a self-compensating flat balance spring. The Cartier Tortue Grand Modele 2518E was introduced in 2006, which was the 100th anniversary of the Cartier Tortue. The original Tortue was introduced in 1912.
