More about Vintage Professional Chronograph SS / SS

This is a c. 1960 stainless steel Wittnauer Professional Diver Chronograph 7004A. It has a Wittnauer stainless steel bracelet and an acrylic crystal. There is a solid screw-down case back, inside of which is engraved "Wittnauer Watch Co.," the reference number, and the case no. 239T. It has round chronograph pushbuttons and a screw-down crown. The 40mm diameter solid three-body case, downturned lugs, and bi-directional rotating 60-minute dive bezel are polished/brushed. The bezel has aged to a mulberry color from the original burgundy, and also has a fully lumed triangle and 12-hour scale. The original black dial has the "Geneve" script, aged steel Tritium baton hour markers around a minute/second track, luminous steel baton hands, and a steel center sweep chronograph hand. It has twin subsidiary dials including a small constant seconds dial at 9 o'clock, and a 30-minute register at 3 o'clock. There is a tachymeter scale around the perimeter to 600 UPH. The 13.8mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Wittnauer Professional Diver Chronograph 7004A has a mechanical manual winding Valjoux 7733 movement that's rhodium-plated. It's constructed with 17 jewels, a straight line-lever escapement, a monometallic balance, and a self-compensating flat balance-spring.
