More about Speedmaster ED WHITE 105.003 c.1964

This is a vintage stainless-steel c. 1964 Omega Speedmaster Professional "Ed White" 105.003-64. It includes a leather strap with a stainless-steel tang buckle and there is a "Dot over 90" tachymeter measuring 500 UPH on the black flat bezel. It has a single-step screwed-down original pre-moon case back engraved with "Speedmaster," the Omega symbol, and the hippocampus logo. Inside the case back is the Omega hallmark and reference number. It includes an antimagnetic dust cap that fits over the movement, and it has round chronograph pushbuttons and a signed pull out "flat foot" winding crown. The 39mm diameter solid three-body case, integral lyre lugs, and case back are polished/brushed. It includes the original black dial with a hesalite crystal with the Omega logo still visible in the center, an applied steel Omega emblem, and luminous white pointed baton hands with vintage luminous baton hour index markers. There is a white center arrow-tipped chronograph second hand with a wedge-shaped counterbalance, and a white perimeter minute/one-fifth second chapter ring. It has 3 recessed tri-compax configured black subsidiary dials with white luminous Arabic numerals, markers and indicator hands including a small constant running seconds register at the 9 o'clock position, a 12-hour chronograph totalizer at 6 o'clock, and there is a 30-minute chronograph counter at the 3 o'clock position. It's water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, it has a 44-hour power reserve at full winding, and the 13.5mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Omega Speedmaster Professional "Ed White" 105.003-64 has a mechanical manual winding Omega caliber 321 (based on the Lemania caliber 2310) column wheel chronograph movement. It's copper finished and it's constructed with 17 jewels, a shock absorber system, a straight-line lever escapement, and an anti-magnetic monometallic balance. It includes a self-compensating flat balance-spring, an index regulator, and the mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 18,000 vph (2.5Hz). This Omega Speedmaster Professional "Ed White" 105.003-64 was produced from 1963 to 1966. It was the first Speedmaster model to visit the moon.
