More about Patek Philippe 5057R Cortina Jubilee 18K Rose Gold Hobnail Bezel LIMITED

This is a limited edition 18K rose gold Patek Philippe Cortina Jubilee Power Reserve Moon Phase, 5057. It has an alligator leather strap with a matching rose gold deployant buckle, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. It has a 3-row hobnail bezel and a sapphire crystal exhibition display.

The 36mm diameter three-body solid case, 3-row hobnail stepped bezel, and straight lugs with gold springbars are polished/brushed. It has a white enamel dial with black painted radial Roman numerals, black oxidized gold spade hands, and a railway-style outer minute track. The subsidiary seconds dial is at 4 o'clock, with a 48-hour power reserve indicator at 10. The moon phase aperture with date counter is at 7 o'clock. It's water resistant to 20 meters/ 65 feet. The 9mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.

The mechanical automatic self-winding calibre 240/164 movement is rhodium-plated with fausses cotes embellishment. It's constructed with 29 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, and a shock absorber mechanism. It has a self-compensating free-sprung flat balance spring, a 22K gold micro-rotor, and the patented Patek Philippe Gyromax balance that adjusts for cold, heat, isochronism, and 5 positions.

Patek Philippe first introduced their moon phase complication in 1927; In 1977 they received a patent for their diminutive calibre 240 automatic movement, which would be placed in some of the greatest timepieces ever made, including this watch, which was produced in 1997 in a limited run of 100 total pieces to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Cortina Watch Co. in Singapore. The hobnail style bezel was introduced in 1932 when the company debuted their first Calatrava designs.
