This is an 18K yellow gold Ulysse Nardin, San Marco GMT +/- Big Date, Reference 226-87. It has an alligator leather strap with an 18K yellow gold deployant buckle, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. It has a solid case back secured with 6 screws and engraved with the Winged Lion of San Marco in high relief, and a protected screwed-down gold crown. There is a sculptured rectangular pushbutton at 10 o'clock to turn the second GMT time-zone hour hand backwards, and another pushbutton at 8 o'clock to adjust it forward. The 39mm diameter solid three-body case, fluted downturned lugs, and stepped rounded bezel are polished. The dial is silver with a fine guilloche pattern, with luminescent blued sword hands, a center sweep seconds hand, an there are applied blued steel baton indexes and Roman numerals at both half-hours, all with applied luminescent dots and minute markers in a smooth reserve. There is a big double date window at the 2 o'clock position, and a circular home time zone jumping 24-hour indicator at 9 o'clock that shows white for the diurnal hours and black for the nocturnal hours. It's water resistant to 100 meters/330 feet, and it has a 42-hour power reserve at full wind. The 12.2mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. The mechanical automatic self-winding Ulysse Nardin caliber 20 movement is rhodium plated, with fausses côtes embellishment. It's constructed with 21 jewels, a shock absorber mechanism, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance, a self-compensating flat balance spring, and a special patented mechanism to adjust the hour hand backward and forward.
