This is a vintage c. 1971 stainless steel/18k white gold Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust, reference 1601. It has a stainless steel Jubilee bracelet with a stainless steel deployant buckle, and an acrylic crystal. There is a screw-down solid case back, and a screw-down winding crown. The 35.2mm diameter solid three-body case, integral downturned lugs, and fluted 18k white gold bezel are polished/brushed. The original dial is blue with a sunray finish. It has luminous baton hour markers with dot hour indices, white gold baton hands with luminous inserts, a center sweep seconds hand, and there is an outer minute/second track around the perimeter. There is a date aperture window underneath a Cyclops magnification bubble in the crystal at the 3 o'clock position. It's water resistant and the 12mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. The mechanical automatic self-winding Rolex caliber 1570 movement is rhodium-plated. It's constructed with 26 jewels, a shock absorber device, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance that's adjusted to 5 positions and temperature, a self-compensating free-sprung Breguet balance spring, and Microstella regulating screws.
