More about Panerai PAM00024 Luminor Submersible SS

This is a stainless steel Panerai Luminor Submersible, PAM00024. The cushion shaped, three-body case is made of brushed AISI 316L alloy stainless steel, with downturned lugs and a screwed down case back. It has a leather strap with a stainless steel tang buckle, and a counter-clockwise unidirectional graduated diver's bezel for measuring immersion times, with a ratchet click at minute intervals, and steel Tritium dots. The black dial has applied steel tritium dot hour index markers and Arabic numerals at 12 and 6 o'clock, with subsidiary seconds dial at 9 o'clock. There are skeleton hour and minute hands with Tritium inserts, with a Cyclops date indicator on the sapphire crystal at 3 o'clock. It has the patented crown guard, and it's water resistant to 300 meters. The case, dial, and movement are all signed.

The automatic Panerai OPIII movement is constructed with Cotes de Geneve decoration on the bridges, 21 jewels, and a Panerai personalized oscillating weight. It has a Glucydor balance adjusted to heat, cold, and five positions. The mechanism oscillates at 28,800 vph (4 Hz), it has an Incabloc anti-shock device, and the power reserve is 42 hours.

The Panerai protected crown guard has been the stylistic signature of the Luminor watches sine the first models in the 1930's. It's designed as a lever to put pressure on the crown and ensure a water resistant seal. Superior to the screwed-down crown, it's instant opening and closing, there's no thread to wear, and it's impossible to forget to screw down the crown after handling the watch. The case back is engraved "Divers Professional," meaning that this Luminor is compliant with the ISO 6425 standards for professional diving watches. This watch is limited to 1500 pieces.
