More about Jaeger LeCoultre Q207857J Tribute to Deep Sea Vintage Chronograph

This is a stainless steel Jaeger LeCoultre Tribute To Deep Sea Vintage Chronograph, Q207857J. It has a leather strap with a stainless steel tang buckle, and a retro plexiglas crystal. The solid screw-down case-back has the same motif appearing on the 1959 watch, featuring a frogman surrounded by bubbles. The 40.5mm diameter case, straight lugs, and fixed graduated black aluminum bezel are polished with fine-brushed edges. It has a two-register chronograph with round pushbuttons and recessed sub dials, including a 30-minute indicator at the three o'clock position, a 12-hour sub dial at 9 o'clock, and a screw-down crown. The dial is black with silver Arabic numeral hour markers and quarter hour triangle markers, luminescent baton hands and a center sweep seconds hand, and dart hour index markers; the luminescent markers have aged "tropic" paint to resemble the original watch, although they have Superluminova luminescense rather than the dangerous radioactive coatings of the 1950's. There is an outer track with minute divisions, it's water resistant to 100 meters/330 feet, and it has a 65-hour power reserve at full wind. The 14.5mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.

The mechanical automatic self-winding Jaeger LeCoultre Caliber 751g movement is rhodium plated with fausses cotes embellishment, and a shock absorber mechanism. It's constructed with 37 jewels, 235 components, a straight-line lever escapement, a monometallic balance that's adjusted to temperature and 5 positions, and a self-compensating flat balance spring. The rotor oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz).

This watch was introduced at the SIHH exhibition in 2012 as a new model that was retrofitted carefully to honor the original Memovox Tribute to Deep Sea diving watch of 1959. Instead of an alarm, Jaeger LeCoultre decided to provide it with a chronograph function.
