Breitling Navitimer 806 "ALL BLACK" AOPA Transitional Circa 1961, undoubtedly one of the best quality 806 ALL BLACK examples in the world, the stainless steel case is in outstanding original condition and appears to be unpolished, all bevels are sharp clear and defined, manual wind Venus 178 movement with "WOG" US import code stamp, triple register chronograph, the transitional "all black" dial is gilt with the AOPA wings and Navitimer in gilt writing, the dial is in incredible original glossy condition and is free of any major flaws, original large beaded bezel, acrylic crystal, snap back, size 40mm, thickness 12mm, Outstanding Original Condition for arguably the most important reference of the entire vintage Breitling line. The all black version of the APOA was just re-released by the Breitling Heritage department at the Basel 2019 show.

This is a vintage c. 1961 stainless steel Breitling Navitimer "ALL BLACK" AOPA 806. It has a leather strap with a stainless steel tang buckle, a domed acrylic crystal. It includes round "mushroom" chronograph pushbuttons. The 40mm diameter solid three-body case, revolving reeded slide rule bezel, lapidated downturned lugs, and solid case back are polished/brushed, and in excellent condition. The dial is black with luminous radium Arabic numeral hour markers, "syringe" style steel hands with luminous inserts, and a center sweep chronograph seconds hand with a luminous arrow tip. It includes the gilt AOPA wings emblem and "Navitimer." There are outer graduations for the minutes, the tachymeter, the telemeter, and the slide-rule. It includes three black subsidiary dials with white markers, Arabic numerals, and indicator hands, including a constant running seconds dial at the 9 o'clock position, a 12-hour chronograph totalizer at 6 o'clock, and there is a 30-minute totalizer at 3 o'clock. It has a 45-hour power reserve at full winding, and the 12mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Breitling Navitimer "ALL BLACK" AOPA 806 has a mechanical manual winding Breitling Venus caliber 178 (based on the Valjoux 7736) column wheel chronograph movement that's copper-coated, with a shock absorber mechanism. It includes the "WOG" US import code stamp, and it's constructed with 17 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, and a monometallic balance that's adjusted to temperature and 5 positions. It includes a self-compensating flat balance spring, and the mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 18,000 vph (2.5 Hz). The Breitling Navitimer "ALL BLACK" AOPA 806 was introduced c. 1952, with the gold logo of the AOPA - the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association - on the dial.
