Overlooked is your weekly horological treasure hunt — where we dig through the vaults of European Watch Company to spotlight a few quietly brilliant pieces hiding in plain sight. It’s the sleeper hit, the underdog, the “wait, how is this still available?” watch you didn’t know you needed… until now.

Many watch aficionados enjoy having a hefty presence on the wrist. However, sometimes it’s nice to feel a little stealthier, with a quiet, slim timepiece nestling comfortably under the cuff, like a whisper that only the wearer can hear. We’ve gathered four slim, exceptional options, all under 9mm thick.

Piaget Altiplano 900P 18K White Gold Ultra Thin

One might think that a watch adorned with diamonds does not qualify as stealthy, but with this ultra thin Piaget Altiplano coming in at an astonishing 3.5mm in case thickness, we’d say it’s stealthy enough to feel as though it’s an integrated part of your wrist. Piaget achieves this remarkable thinness by integrating the movement and the dial into one piece, which also has the convenient advantage of making components of the manually-wound in-house caliber 900P movement visible on the dial side. The case is made of 18K white gold and has a diamond-set bezel for a little bit of subtle sparkle, and the 38mm case diameter would feel at home on many wrist sizes.

Breguet Marine Hora Mundi 18K Yellow Gold

For the traveler among us who wants to keep up with multiple time zones in a compact package, this Breguet Marine Hora Mundi ticks all the right boxes. It packs a whole lot into a 38mm 18K yellow gold case that’s only 8.7mm thick: an automatic movement with date display, 24-hour inner chapter ring, and a bidirectional outer world time chapter ring, allowing the travel enthusiast to see different time zones at a glance. It’s also in like-new condition and has been completely serviced by Breguet.

Chopard L.U.C. QF Jubilee SS Silver Dial

Chopard’s L.U.C. line often has some interesting surprises, and this L.U.C. QF Jubilee is no exception. Made in an edition of only 25 pieces, it’s in a 39mm stainless steel case that’s 8.9mm thick, and it’s powered by an in-house automatic caliber 96.09-L movement with a 65 hour power reserve. It’s also a double-certified chronometer movement, ensuring the utmost accuracy. The dial is extremely legible and beautiful, and the care and attention to detail in L.U.C. movement finishing is visible through the exhibition caseback.

Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Traditionelle Manual Wind Platinum

The Vacheron Constantin Traditionelle line is known for its classic, perfectly executed, elegant simplicity. This version in platinum with a stunning deep gray dial, exemplifies the skill and craftsmanship involved in creating these quiet masterpieces. Inside, it has the manually-wound caliber 4400 AS with a 65-hour power reserve, and the movement is stealthily visible to the wearer through the exhibition case back. And at only 7.8mm thick, it can easily slip under any sleeve for the most stealthy timekeeping.

For a watch that is slim and understated, but still has the utmost in mechanical timekeeping excellence, these four timepieces bring more to the table than their slim silhouettes might imply.
