Overlooked is your weekly horological treasure hunt — where we dig through the vaults of European Watch Company to spotlight a few quietly brilliant pieces hiding in plain sight. It’s the sleeper hit, the underdog, the “wait, how is this still available?” watch you didn’t know you needed… until now.

It’s that time of year when it truly starts to feel like fall - there’s a crisp chill in the air, and the leaves are putting on their annual show and changing color in preparation for winter. These four watches have colors that mimic the various shades of autumn leaves, and would look great on the wrist under a warm and cozy sweater.

URWERK UR-100 Electrum 18K Yellow Gold RARE LIMITED

The yellow gold and green tones in this very cool piece by URWERK are reminiscent of early fall, but its unique features are what make it really special. A bold case made of Electrum, a material made by mixing gold and silver, has concentric grooves surrounding the dial, drawing the eye to the three-satellite time display on the dial. This watch displays the time and also displays the distance the earth travels around the sun as well as the distance that the earth rotates in its orbit, connecting the wearer not only to the earth, but the cosmos.

Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep SS Gray Dial

Nothing feels more like fall than the shade of orange on the bezel of this OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean. The saturated orange hue of the bezel and numerals contrast beautifully with the gradient gray dial, which will coordinate perfectly with that charcoal grey coat that’s been sitting in your closet all year. And this watch is truly functional for diving, with a unidirectional bezel, luminous hands and indices, and water resistance to 6,000 meters, making it live up to its Ultra Deep moniker.

Vacheron Constantin Overseas Automatic "JUMBO" SS Salmon Dial RARE

The salmon hue of the dial of this Vacheron Constantin Overseas may remind you of the end of the autumn season, as the vibrant colors of early fall give way to more subtle shades as we draw closer to winter. In like new condition, it’s a gorgeous example of an integrated bracelet style that would look perfect under the cuff of a shirt and jacket at the office or tucked under toasty knitwear, and its 37mm size puts it at the sweet spot for many different wrist sizes.

Jaeger LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Réserve de Marche 18K Rose Gold

The soft cream-colored dial and warm-toned rose gold case of this quietly elegant Master Ultra Thin draw the eye, but the beautifully executed details will keep you looking at your wrist long after you’ve registered the time. It features a date display subdial and a power reserve indicator on the dial, as well as a sapphire case back that shows the Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 938 automatic movement powering the timepiece. It’s equally at home at a formal event or while casually tucking into a cup of hot cocoa next to a roaring fire.

As autumn fades into the inexorable march towards the colder winter season, it’s nice to feel a sense of visual warmth emanating from your wrist. Though these timepieces may not literally warm you up, they’re sure to help you ease into the chillier months ahead.
