Rockstar: Cartier Pebble

In 1998, Cartier launched the Privé Collection to revisit its archives, drawing on one of the richest legacies in jewelry and watch design to build faithful reissues for the modern era. After concluding the initial run in 2008, Cartier revived Privé in 2018, releasing even more exceptional designs including the Cartier Pebble, one of the most exclusive pieces ever made by the brand.

Fewer than ten original Pebbles were made, beginning in 1972. In 2022, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the unique watch, Cartier added the Pebble to the Privé collection in a limited run of just 150 pieces in yellow gold.

What makes the Pebble so important? In addition to its rarity, most notably, the Pebble has one of the most unique designs on the market. Its smooth, domed case frames a rotated, diamond-shaped dial set within the case’s soft curves. The juxtaposition of beautiful curves and strong lines perfectly encapsulates the aesthetics of the Swinging Sixties, and is just another manifestation of Cartier’s mastery of watch design. The dial flaunts an eggshell finish with blued steel hands and classic black Roman numerals, topped off with a railroad minute track. From the case to the dial, this piece has a decidedly vintage feel that lets this 2022 timepiece feel and look like a watch you’ve been wearing for 50 years or more.
