The 2025 Met Gala brought together fashion, culture, and personal expression in a big way, with this year’s theme, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, celebrating the legacy and creativity of Black Dandyism. As always, the night wasn’t just about the clothes. There were some standout timepieces on display that quietly stole the show.
One of the most fitting pairings of the night came from actor Tramell Tillman, who plays Milchick on Severance. He wore the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Duoface Tourbillon. It’s a piece that has two dials, one clean and classic, the other openworked and technical. That duality makes it a perfect match for Severance, a show that explores the concept of splitting one’s work life from their personal life. Like the watch, Milchick’s character lives in two worlds, and Tillman’s choice felt thoughtful and symbolic.

Saquon Barkley, running back for the Eagles, made a bold statement with the H. Moser & Cie Endeavour Tourbillon Vantablack. The dial is made from Vantablack, one of the darkest substances in existence, which gives the flying tourbillon the illusion of floating. It’s dramatic but minimal. It worked perfectly with Barkley’s rich, velvet-heavy outfit.

Walton Goggins, fresh off The White Lotus Season 3, wore the brand new Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Complete Calendar Openface. The platinum case and partially openworked dial showed off the calendar mechanics inside, adding depth to an otherwise classic design. Goggins kept his look understated, letting the details on both his suit and his watch do the talking.

Henry Golding stayed true to his reputation as a modern style icon, opting for the just-released yellow gold Cartier Tank à Guichets Jump Hour. This watch is all about subtlety. There are no hands, just two apertures displaying the hour and minute. Its 1920s design roots made it a smart, vintage-inspired choice that paired beautifully with Golding’s clean-lined, mustard-colored suit. And it might be the first new Tank à Guichets we’ve seen in “the wild”.

Coleman Domingo embraced the night’s theme with a zoot suit-inspired outfit and what appeared to be a yellow gold Omega Speedmaster with a reverse panda dial. We have learned that this watch hasn’t been officially released, so it definitely turned heads among collectors. Domingo’s entire look struck a balance between honoring tradition and adding something new, which made the mysterious Speedmaster even more fitting.

Barry Keoghan brought a bit of drama with a Moonshine Gold Omega Speedmaster. With its green dial and gold case, the watch added just enough color to complement his layered, high-concept outfit. It’s a twist on the classic Speedy that feels both vintage and fresh, very on brand for Keoghan.

Maluma made one of the boldest horological statements of the evening with the Jacob & Co. Billionaire III Emeralds. Retailing at around five million dollars, the watch is fully set with green emerald-cut stones, housed in a white gold case and bracelet. It’s not subtle, and it wasn’t meant to be. Paired with Maluma’s opulent tailoring, the watch turned his wrist into a showpiece of its own, blending maximalism with the extravagant flair often found in Black Dandy style.

All in all, the 2025 Met Gala proved once again that watches are more than accessories. They’re personal, intentional, and often deeply connected to the stories people want to tell. From symbolic dual dials to sleek gold classics, these timepieces helped round out some of the night’s most memorable looks.
