More about Vintage Ultra Thin Manual 18K YG FULL SET 1971

This is a vintage c. 1960's 18K yellow gold Audemars Piguet Vintage Ultra-Thin. It includes an 18k gold Milanese diagonal wove mesh bracelet with a signed "AP" folding box deployment clasp and a mineral glass crystal. There is a pull-out gold winding crown set with a sapphire cabochon and a solid snap down monogrammed gold case back. The 31.5mm diameter round two-body case, bracelet, and thin convex bezel, are polished/brushed. The dial is silver with black Roman numeral hour markers and pointed thin gold baton hour and minute hands. The 5.3mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Audemars Piguet Vintage Ultra-Thin has a mechanical manual winding AP caliber 1003 (originally the Jaeger LeCoultre caliber 803 with additions by Vacheron Constantin) movement. It's rhodium plated with Cotes de Geneve embellishment and it has the quality seal of Geneva, 17 jewels, an anti-shock system, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance that's adjusted for heat, cold, isochronism and 4 positions, and a self-compensating flat balance spring. The Audemars Piguet Vintage Ultra-Thin was introduced in the 1960's and it was sold through Gubelin Ltd. in Lucerne. Audemars Piguet worked with Vacheron Constantin and Jaeger-LeCoultre on their ultra-thin movements beginning in the 1950's.
