More about Vintage RCAF Monopusher Chronograph SS MINT
This is a vintage 1977 stainless steel Breitling RCAF Monopusher Chronograph. It has a cordovan leather strap with a stainless steel tang buckle. The single pusher at 2 o'clock starts, stops and resets the sweep seconds hand and the 30 minute totalizer. There is a screw-down solid case back engraved with military markings, including the NATO stock number. The 36mm diameter solid two-body case, downturned lugs, and angled bezel are polished/brushed. The original dial is white with applied Tritium dot hour markers, luminous Arabic numerals at 6 and 12 o'clock, a black minute/seconds track around the perimeter, and center sweep chronograph hand. There is a constant small seconds subsidiary dial at 9 o'clock, and a 30-minute totalizer is at 3 o'clock. The 12mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Breitling is powered by the mechanical manual winding Valjoux caliber 236. It's constructed with 17 jewels, a shock absorber mechanism, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance, and a self-compensating flat balance spring. It has a hacking seconds mechanism for precision time setting. This rare Breitling RCAF Monopusher Chronograph was part of the last batch of watches issued to the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) in 1977.
