There is an exhibition sapphire display case back secured with 8 screws and it's engraved with "CARTIER – WATER RESISTANT – 25498E – SWISS MADE – 750," hallmarks, and a serial number. The 34mm by 34 mm diameter barrel-shaped solid two-body case, slightly downturned screwed bar lugs, and rounded art deco bezel, are polished. There are two screws on each side of the band, including two on each side for the lugs, and there is an octagonal cabochon sapphire-set winding crown. The dial is silver sunray guilloche with black painted Roman numeral hour markers, blued Breguet hands, a concentric railroad-style minute track, and the secret Cartier signature is at the 7 o'clock position. It's water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, it has a 43-hour power reserve at full winding, and the 9.4mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Cartier Privee Collection Tortue 2496C has a mechanical manual winding Cartier caliber 437MC (base Piaget caliber 430P) rhodium-plated movement. It's engraved with special Cartier decoration, and a signed Cartier rotor. It's constructed with 18 jewels, 131 components, a shock absorber device, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance, a micrometer regulator, and a self-compensating flat balance spring. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3Hz). The Cartier Privee Collection Tortue 2496C was introduced in the 2000's. The original Tortue was introduced in 1912.
