More about Double Tourbillon 30° Vision GF02 18k White Gold RARE

This is an 18k white gold Greubel Forsey Double Tourbillon 30 Vision GF02. It includes an 18k white gold case on an alligator strap with a white gold deployment clasp, and scratch resistant sapphire crystals (domed over the dial). It has a signed pull-out winding crown and an exhibition sapphire display crystal case back secured with 6 white gold screws engraved with “GREUBEL FORSEY – DOUBLE TOURBILLON 30,” hallmarks and a serial number. The 43.5mm diameter round case, curved lugs, and stepped convex bezel, are mirror polished. It has a solid 18k white gold dial with applied black Roman numeral hour markers, stick baton hour indices, and a perimeter white 60-minute scale with black strakes and Arabic numerals every 5 minutes. It includes a circular recessed silver constant running small seconds subsidiary dial at 9 o’clock with a brushed silver ring, black Arabic numerals, markers, and a blued triangular skeletonized indicator hand. There is a silver triangular retrograde power reserve at 3 o’clock with a needle/triangular skeletonized blued indicator hand and black Arabic numerals. It has blued and skeletonized “cathedral” style hour and minute hands and a cutaway mouth-shaped outer tourbillon cage that rotates once every four minutes, and there is a second tourbillon that turns every 60-seconds that’s also visible through the case back. The twin tourbillons (a tourbillon inside another tourbillon) have the inner cage containing the escapement while the outer cage rotates. This system cancels negative effects of positional gravity on the ticking balance while the inner tourbillon is canted at a 30-degree angle from the outer cage. There are four serpentine arms on the blued steel wheel, one for each minute requiring a complete revolution. It has a 72-hour power reserve at full winding, It’s water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, and the 15.8mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Greubel Forsey Double Tourbillon 30 Vision GF02 has a mechanical manual winding Greubel Forsey caliber GF02 frosted gilt movement with a self-compensating balance spring with a Phillips terminal curve and a double tourbillon system. It’s constructed with 39 jewels, an anti-shock system, a monometallic balance, a 22k gold hemispherical rotor, heat-blued screws, twin mainspring barrels, and the mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3Hz). Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey introduced this watch in 2004 in a limited edition of 144 examples in white and red gold, and platinum. Redesigning the Breguet tourbillon began in 1999 with their stunning technical advancements and this watch was their original invention.
