More about Portuguese 7 Day SS / Blue Numerals
This is a stainless steel IWC Portuguese 7 Day IW500107. The leather strap has a stainless deployant clasp, and there is a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. It has a screw-down exhibition sapphire display case back with antireflective coating, and a winding crown. The 42mm diameter solid three-body case, downturned lugs and rounded bezel are polished/brushed, and there is a date aperture window at 6 o'clock. The dial is silver with applied blued steel Arabic numeral hour markers, an outer minute track with dot divisions, and blued steel feuille hands. A constant seconds sub dial with a stop function is at the 9 o'clock position, and the 7-day power reserve dial is at 3. It's water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, and the 14mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This IWC Portuguese 7 Day IW500107 has a mechanical automatic self-winding IWC Pellaton caliber 5000 movement that's rhodium plated with fausses cotes embellishment. It's constructed with 44 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, and a shock absorber mechanism. It has a Glucydur®* beryllium alloy balance with high-precision adjustment cam on balance arms, and a self-compensating Breguet balance spring. There is a skeletonized bi-directional rotor with an 18K gold medallion inlay engraved "IWC -Probus Scafusia," (Fine Schaffhausen). The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 18,000 vph (2.5 Hz). This model references the first IWC Portuguese watches of the 1930's, with the railway track chapter ring, Arabic numerals, and feuille hands. It debuted in 2004.
