More about Portuguese Hand Wound Eight Days SS / Black Dial 75th Anniversary

This is a stainless steel IWC Portuguese Hand Wound Eight Days "75th Anniversary" IW510205. It has an alligator leather strap with a stainless steel tang buckle, and scratch resistant sapphire arched-edge crystals with antireflective coating on both surfaces. It includes a pull-out signed winding crown, and an exhibition sapphire display case back secured with 6 screws, and it's engraved with "ONE OUT OF 750," and a serial number. The 43mm diameter solid two-body case, stepped convex bezel, and downturned curved lugs are polished/brushed. The dial is black with luminous mint green Arabic numeral hour markers at 3, 9, and 12 o'clock, with a perimeter railway-style mint green luminous minute scale. It includes Polished steel feuille leaf-shaped hands, and there is a subsidiary small constant running seconds dial with white markers and a steel indicator hand at the 6 o'clock position, combined with a circular date aperture window at 6 o'clock. It's water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, and the power reserve is eight days/192-hours at full winding. The 12mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This IWC Portuguese Hand Wound Eight Days "75th Anniversary" IW510205 has a mechanical manual winding IWC caliber 59215 movement that's rhodium plated with Cotes de Geneve embellishment. It's constructed with 30 jewels and a shock absorber mechanism. There is an index regulator, and a skeletonized bidirectional rotor with an engraved IWC logo with "adj to 5 positions," and a power reserve display on the back. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz). The IWC Portuguese Hand Wound Eight Days "75th Anniversary" IW510205 was introduced in 2015 in a limited edition of 750 examples. This watch honors the design of the original Portuguese timepieces of the 1930s with an arched-edge crystal, a railway-track-style chapter ring, feuille leaf hands, and a small running constant seconds dial at 6 o’clock. For the traditional symmetry of the dial, the power reserve display is on the watch’s case back.
