More about Portuguese Vintage Collection 18K Rose Gold

This is an 18K rose gold IWC Portuguese Vintage Collection IW544503. It has an alligator leather strap with a matching 18K rose gold tang buckle. The solid 44mm diameter three-body case, curved lugs, and grooved bezel are polished, and the sapphire crystal display case back is secured with 6 screws. The dial is metallic grey with applied steel Arabic numeral hour markers and an outer minute track. There are steel feuille hands and a small seconds subsidiary dial is at 6 o'clock. It has a 46-hour power reserve at full wind. It's water resistant to 25 meters/75 feet. The 10mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. The IWC manual winding calibre 98295 movement is rhodium plated with fausses cotes embellishment. It's constructed with18 jewels, a monometallic balance adjusted for heat, cold, and 5 positions, a shock absorber mechanism, and a straight-line lever escapement. There is a self-compensating Breguet balance spring, and an index regulator. In 1939 IWC debuted the round case design Portuguese collection. They intended to pay homage to Portugal most prominent seafaring explorers including Ferdinand Magellan, Vasco da Gama, and Bartolomeu Dias. This recently produced vintage Portuguese watch is an homage to those first 1939 timepieces that celebrated the tradition of nautical instruments with contemporary designs and movements.
