More about Master Control Automatic SS Black Dial NOVELTY

This is a stainless steel Jaeger LeCoultre Master Control Automatic 154.84.70. It has a leather strap with a stainless steel deployant buckle, a push/pull winding crown, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. The 39mm diameter solid two-body case, downturned lugs, and rounded bezel are polished. It has a solid case back secured with 4 screws and a date aperture window at 3 o'clock. The dial is black with applied rhodium-plated silver Arabic numeral hour markers at 6, 9, and 12 o'clock, and baton index markers with dauphine hands and minute dots with luminous inserts. There is a central sweep second hand and an outer ring with minute divisions. It's water resistant to 50 meters/150 feet, and it has a power reserve of 43 hours at full wind. The 8.9 mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Jaeger LeCoultre Master Control Automatic 154.84.70 has a mechanical automatic self-winding Jaeger LeCoultre caliber 899 movement that's rhodium plated, with "fausses côtes" embellishment. It's constructed with 32 jewels, 219 components, and 1 barrel. It has a shock absorber mechanism, and the balance-bridge is fitted with two rests while the self-compensating flat balance spring is laser-welded to the stud and collet. There is a straight-line lever escapement, and a monometallic balance that's adjusted to 5 positions, and a variable inertia balance wheel for ultra stability and precision. It has a 22-carat oscillating weight segment, and the mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz). Jaeger LeCoultre debuted the first Master Control watches in 1992; the caliber 889 passed a six-week, 1000-hour series of tests that are now the benchmark examination for all JLC timepieces.
