This is a 950 platinum Montres Ludovic Ballouard Sarl Upside Down. It includes a 950 platinum case on an alligator strap with a matching platinum B-shaped hand engraved tang buckle and scratch resistant sapphire crystals. It has a platinum off-center signed pull-out winding crown with crown guards between 2 and 3 o’clock, and the blued feuille leaf-shaped minute hand moves from hour to hour with the past hour turning 180 degrees so that only the new hour turns right side up. It has an exhibition sapphire display crystal case back secured with 6 screws and it’s engraved with “LUDOVIC BALLOUARD – UPSIDE DOWN – PT950,” hallmarks and a serial number. The 41mm round case, gently curved lugs, inverted convex sides, and convex bezel are brushed/polished (when you look at your reflection in the flared convex sides you see yourself upside down). The dial is grained silver with 12 rotating circular hour discs with black Arabic numerals and there is a circular recessed silver small constant running seconds dial with a blued indicator hand and black markers at 6 o’clock. It's water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, it has a 36-hour power reserve at full winding, and the 11mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Montres Ludovic Ballouard Sarl Upside Down has a patented mechanical manual winding Ballouard caliber BO1 movement. It’s yellow gold with brushed Arabic wave embellishment and 12 white gold maltese cross hour mechanisms are visible in the sapphire case back that control the rotating jumping time discs. It’s constructed with 51 jewels, 228 components, an anti-shock system, and a monometallic balance. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3hz). The Montres Ludovic Ballouard Sarl Upside Down was released in December 2009. This is an early production piece from 2010. Ludovic Ballouard’s philosophy behind the Upside Down Arabic hour numerals is to remind the wearer of the importance of living in the moment and to “Carpe Diem,” seize the day. It won the Special Jury Prize from Montres Passion magazine in 2010.
