This is a platinum Moritz Grossmann ATUM Backpage MG-001642. It includes a .950 platinum case on a blue alligator leather strap with a platinum tang buckle and scratch resistant sapphire crystals with anti-reflective coating. It has a screw down signed winding crown, a small push-button at 4 o’clock for disabling the hand-setting mode and starting the movement, and there is an exhibition sapphire crystal display back secured with 7 screws, and it’s engraved with “MORITZ GROSSMANN – GLASHUTTE SA – P950,” hallmarks, and a serial and edition number. The 41mm diameter two-body case, straight notched lugs, and thin convex bezel, are polished. There is a hand-engraved power reserve indicator with a white gold hand at 10 o’clock, and it includes a recessed circular blue small seconds subsidiary dial with a white gold indicator hand and white Arabic numerals and markers at 6 o’clock, blued steel annealed minute and hour stiletto hands around a white perimeter minute/hour chapter ring, white gold trapezoidal applied baton hour markers, and an applied Arabic numeral at 12 o’clock. It has a 42-hour power reserve at full winding, it’s water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, and the 11.5mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Moritz Grossmann Backpage MG-001642 has a mechanical hand wound caliber 107.0 (based on the caliber 100.1) inverted movement that’s upside-down in the case. It has a hand-engraved balance cock and escape-wheel cock, Wide Cotes de Geneve embellishment, heat blued screws, 3-band snailing on the ratchet wheel, a stop-seconds and stop-function mechanism, and it’s constructed with a 2/3 plate, 24 jewels with 7 in screwed raised gold chatons with pan-head screws, 230 components, and a removable clutch winder. It includes a monometallic balance adjusted to 5 positions, a Nivarox balance spring, a Grossmann micrometer screw on a cantilevered balance cock, untreated German silver pillars, and the mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 18,000 vph (2.5hz). The Moritz Grossmann Backpage MG-001642 was introduced in 2019 in a Limited Edition to 18 examples to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the brand.
