More about Vintage Speedmaster Professional SS CB CASE RARE c. 1967

This is a vintage 1967 stainless steel Omega Speedmaster 105.012-66CB. It has an integral Omega stainless steel No. 12 link bracelet with a folding deployment clasp and the original domed Hesalite crystal. The 42mm diameter solid three-body case made by La Centrale Boites (CB – stamped 10-73) with 640 end links, anti-magnetic protection cap, straight lugs, and Speedmaster logo solid screw-down case back are polished/brushed. The dial is black with evenly aged tritium baton hour index markers, white baton hands with luminous fill and a steel white luminous arrow-tipped center chronograph hand with a wedge-shaped counterbalance. The black dial and graduated "Dot Over 90" tachymeter bezel to 500 UPH are also original. There is an outer 1/5 seconds track and it has three "pie-tin" black subsidiary dials with white Arabic numerals, markers, and indicator hands including a small constant running seconds register at 9 o'clock, a 12-hour chronograph totalizer at 6 o'clock, and there is a 30-minute chronograph counter at the 3 o'clock position. It's water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, it has a 44-hour power reserve at full winding, and the 14mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. The Omega Speedmaster Professional 105.012-66 has a mechanical manual winding Omega caliber 321 (based on the Lemania caliber 2310) column wheel chronograph movement. It has copper components and it's constructed with 17 jewels, a shock absorber system, a straight-line lever escapement, a monometallic balance with timing screws, a self-compensating Breguet balance spring, and an index regulator. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 18,000 vph (2.5Hz). The Omega Speedmaster Professional 105.012-66 was introduced in 1964. This exact reference was worn by early astronauts including Apollo 11's Neil Armstrong as he became the first human being to step foot on the Moon on July 20, 1969.
