More about Speedmaster Silver Snoopy Award 50th Anniversary

This is stainless-steel Omega Speedmaster Professional "Silver Snoopy Award" 50th Anniversary 310.32.42.50.02.001. It includes a coated blue nylon strap with the trajectory of the Apollo 13 mission on the embossed lining with a stainless-steel tang buckle and a scratch resistant domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. It has a signed screw down winding crown with crown guards, round chronograph push buttons, and there is a special solid screw down case back showing Snoopy in the Command Service Module orbiting the far side of the moon (a realistic micro-structured metallization) on an invisible hand that rotates when the chronograph is utilized, with the earth on a disc in the background marked "EYES ON THE STARS" that rotates once per minute in sync with the watch's small seconds hand on the dial. It's engraved around the perimeter with "SILVER SNOOPY AWARD OCT. 5, 1970 – CO-AXIAL MASTER CHRONOMETER – CAL. 3861 – APOLLO XIII – APRIL 1970," and "NAIAD LOCK," with the locking device directional arrow and "STAINLESS STEEL" with the Omega stamp underneath the lugs. The 42mm diameter barrel shaped solid three-body case, blue ceramic Zirconium Oxide flat fixed bezel with a white enamel tachymeter scale with a "dot over 90" to 500 UPH, and gently curved lugs, are polished/brushed. The silver dial has blue PVD applied faceted hour markers with luminous end-pips around a blue perimeter 1/5 second/minute scale, pointed blue baton hour and minute hands with luminous fill, a blue center sweep second hand with a luminous arrow and needle tip, and there is an embossed silver Snoopy medallion on the blue small constant running seconds subsidiary dial at 9 o’clock with a blue indicator hand. There are two blue "pie-tin" PVD subsidiary dials (besides the small seconds) with white Arabic numerals, markers, and steel hands, including a 12-hour chronograph totalizer at 6 o'clock, and there is a 30-minute chronograph counter at the 3 o'clock position. It has a 50-hour power reserve at full winding, it's water resistant to 50 meters/165 feet, and the 14.47mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Omega Speedmaster Professional "Silver Snoopy Award" 50th Anniversary 310.32.42.50.02.001 has a mechanical in-house manual winding Omega co-axial Certified Master Chronometer (approved by METAS) caliber 3861 (an updated version of the Omega caliber 861/1861 based on the Lemania caliber 1873) movement. It's rhodium plated with Cotes de Geneve embellishment and it's constructed with 26 jewels, an anti-shock system, and a free-sprung balance with a silicon balance spring. It's resistant to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss and the mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3Hz). This Omega Speedmaster Professional "Silver Snoopy Award" 50th Anniversary 310.32.42.50.02.001 was introduced in 2020. It pays tribute to the “Silver Snoopy Award” that OMEGA received from NASA astronauts in 1970 in recognition of Omega's contributions to space exploration, including the Apollo 13 mission.
