More about Omega Constellation Automatic 18K Yellow Gold
This is a vintage late 1960's Omega Constellation BA.368.0847. It was the first watch in the world to have a bracelet that was truly integrated with the case (it was designed in 1964 by Pierre Moinat and protected by a patent). It has an 18k yellow gold link bracelet with a folding deployment clasp and a domed rectangular acrylic crystal. There is a signed pull-out winding crown and a solid case back secured with 4 screws with a high relief center medallion of the Constellation/Observatory logo on a raised square. The 33mm by 39.5mm contemporary tonneau two-body case, straight hooded integral lugs, integral bracelet, and convex bezel, have the original unworn brushed finish. It has a textured solid gold dial with applied faceted baton hour markers with the original tritium pips, the original pointed gold baton hour and minute hands with luminous inserts, and there is a center sweep second hand. A square instantaneous date aperture window is at the 3 o'clock position. The letters for "Omega" and the Omega logo are applied yellow gold. It's water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, it has a 42-hour power reserve at full winding, and the 10mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Omega Constellation BA.368.0847 has a mechanical automatic Omega caliber 1001 movement. It's constructed with 20 jewels, an anti-shock system, and a monometallic balance. It includes a hacking seconds feature for precision time setting and the mechanism oscillated at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz). The Omega Constellation BA.368.0847 was introduced in 1968 and set a trend that has remained unstoppable with integrated bracelet design. This is a rare and historically important vintage Omega.
