More about Luminor Marina 8 Days Acciaio

This is an AISI 316L stainless steel Panerai Luminor Marina 8 Days Acciaio, PAM00590. It has a distressed leather strap with a stainless steel tang buckle, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. It has the patented winding crown with the protector that allows the watch to be set underwater. It has a solid case back with "Officine Panerai" and an engraved human torpedo signifying the attack method of the Italian Navy. The 44mm diameter solid three-body case, downturned lugs, and flat round bezel are polished/brushed. It has a "dirty brown sandwich dial," with luminous Arabic numeral hour indexes at the half-hours, and luminescent stick hour markers, with the 3 o'clock position replaced with the Inscription, "8 GIORNI BREVETTATO," ("8 DAYS PATENTED.) There is a small seconds subsidiary dial at 9 o'clock. It has a 192-hour (8 day) power reserve at full wind, and it's water resistant to 300 meters/1000 feet. The 15mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. The mechanical manual winding Panerai caliber P5000 movement is constructed with 21 jewels, 127 components, and a Glucydur® variable inertia balance that's adjusted for temperature and 5 positions. It has two barrels, and a KIF Parechoc® anti-shock device where the bridge supporting the balance is fixed by two screws with bidirectional threaded rings that adjust the endshake of the balance staff pivots, aiding the escapement in running perfectly despite shocks. The stainless steel utilized is AISI 316L, a specification of the American Iron and Steel Institute, an alloy with a chromium content of 16–18%, 11–14% nickel, and 2–3% molybdenum. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3 hz). This watch was produced in a limited edition of 1000 examples.
