More about Nautilus Jumbo 3700 2 Tone SS / 18k NICE
This is a stainless-steel and 18K yellow gold Patek Philippe Nautilus 3700/1A. It includes an integral stainless-steel link bracelet designed by Gay Freres with 18K yellow gold center rectangular center links with a folding deployment clasp, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. It has a screw down gold winding crown and a solid screw down case back. The 42mm diameter jumbo square cushion-shaped solid two-body case, curved lugs, bracelet, and flat gold "porthole" shaped curvilinear octagonal bezel with polished edges and a gasket between cushioning and sealing the case, are brushed/polished. It has gold and steel tubular "ears" with 4 lateral screws securing the bezel and case at 3 and 9 o'clock, and the dial is dark blue-grey with horizontal three-dimensional stripes and applied faceted yellow gold baton hour indices with luminous tritium inserts. It includes gold baton hour and minute hands also with luminous tritium inserts, and there is a perimeter luminous white pip minute scale. A date aperture window is at the three o'clock position. It's water resistant to 120 meters/400 feet, it has a 38-hour power reserve at full winding, and the 7.6mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Patek Philippe Nautilus 3700/1A has a mechanical self-winding Patek Philippe caliber 28-255C (based on the Jaeger-LeCoultre caliber 920) movement. It's rhodium plated with Cotes de Geneve embellishment and it's constructed with 40 jewels, a shock absorber mechanism, and a free-sprung Gyromax monometallic balance, and a full diameter 21K gold rotor with circular Cotes de Geneve stripes supported by 4 ruby wheels that runs on a beryllium rail for maximum stability. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 19,800 vph (2.75Hz). The Patek Philippe Nautilus 3700/1A was introduced in 1976, designed by the incomparable Gerald Genta and it was released at the BaselWorld exhibition. The 1976 to 1982 versions are considered by many watch aficionados to be a kind of "Holy Grail." Owners claim it feels like the bracelet was made from a cast of their own wrist, describing it as a “wet suit inside a tuxedo.” The stainless-steel and gold edition was approximately 900 examples.
