This is an 18K white gold Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar 5038. It has an alligator leather strap with a Calatrava-style 18k white gold deployant buckle, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. It has an exhibition sapphire display case back. The 36mm diameter solid two-body case, downturned lugs, and beaded and stepped bezel are polished. The dial is black enamel with white Roman numeral hour markers, lacquered white gold alpha hands, and an outer minute rail track. There are subsidiary dials for the month with leap year at the 3 o'clock position, the date with a moon phase aperture is at 6 o'clock, and the day with 24-hour indications is at 9 o'clock. It's water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, and the 9mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.

This Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar 5038 has a mechanical automatic self-winding Patek Philippe caliber 240 Q movement that's stamped with the Seal of Geneva quality mark. It's rhodium-plated, with Cotes de Geneve embellishment. It's constructed with 27 jewels, a shock absorber mechanism, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes their patented Gyromax balance that's adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and 5 positions. There is a self-compensating free sprung flat balance spring, and a 22K gold micro-rotor mounted on ball bearings. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3Hz).

The Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar 5038 was made in a limited edition of 500 examples in 1996.
