More about 5059G Retrograde Perpetual Calendar White Gold

This is an 18K white gold Patek Philippe Retrograde Perpetual Calendar 5059G. It has an Officer's style wide rounded bezel, white gold screwed bars, a white enamel dial and black oxidized gold feuille hands with a second sweep hand, Roman numeral hour markers, and a minute rail around the circumference with a slightly domed sapphire crystal. It’s a perpetual calendar with indications of hours, minutes, seconds, day, and date, an adjustment for leap year, and a moon phase sub dial at 6:00. The perpetual calendar will adjust exactly for short and long months as well as leap years. The retrograde arc on the dial also tells the date. The alligator leather strap has a matching 18K white gold fold-over deployant clasp. The case, dial, and movement are all signed. The four-body case is polished and brushed with a hinged half-hunter case back that springs open with the flick of a thumb to reveal a flat sapphire crystal display back. This unidirectional, self-winding calibre 315/136 movement is rhodium-plated with fausses cotes embellishment and the Patek Philippe seal. The renowned movement mechanisms were saved from Patek’s 5050 perpetual calendar watches to outfit this hunter case 5059G. It's constructed with 31 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, a shock absorber mechanism, and a 21K gold central ball-bearing rotor. The mechanism oscillates at 21,600 vph, and it has a self-compensating free-sprung flat balance spring. It also has the patented Gyromax balance that compensates for cold, heat, isochronism, and five positions. The power reserve is 46 hours and it’s water resistant to 25m. Patek introduced this complicated model in 1998 and discontinued it in 2006.
