More about 5074J Grand Complication Minute Repeater Perpetual 18K YG Black Dial

This is an 18k yellow gold Patek Philippe Grand Complication Minute Repeater Perpetual Calendar 5074J-001. It includes an alligator leather strap with an 18k yellow gold deployment clasp and scratch resistant sapphire crystals. It has a pull-out signed winding crown and the minute repeater has twin cathedral gongs that are activated by the arched slide on the left-side case band and there is a corrector at the 10 o'clock position for the calendar. The repeater strikes the hours, quarter-hours and elapsed minutes since the last quarter hour. It has a snap-down solid case back engraved inside with "PATEK PHILIPPE – GENEVE – SWISS – 5074," hallmarks and a serial number, as well as an exhibition sapphire display case back. It also has hallmarks underneath the lugs. When kept fully wound the perpetual calendar will not need adjustment until February 28, 2100. The 42mm diameter solid three-body case (one of the largest Grande Complication watches ever made by Patek Philippe), curved lugs, and flat angled, stepped bezel, are polished. The dial is black with applied yellow gold Arabic numeral hour markers surrounded by a gilt railway-style hour/minute scale with gold Arabic numerals every five minutes to 60. It includes yellow gold feuille leaf hour and minute hands and there are three black recessed subsidiary dials with gold outer rings, gold Arabic numerals and markers, and fold feuille indicator hands, including a combination radial day/24-hour indicator at 9 o'clock, a radial date and moon phase register at 6 o'clock, and there is a combination radial month with leap-year quadrants at 3 o'clock. It's protected from humidity and dust but it's not rated for water resistance and it has a 48-hour power reserve at full winding. The 12.8mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Patek Philippe Grand Complication Minute Repeater Perpetual Calendar 5074J-001 has a mechanical automatic self-winding Patek Philippe caliber R27 Q movement with a minute repeater and perpetual calendar functions. It's rhodium plated and it's hallmarked with the Patek quality Seal. It includes 467 components and a 22k gold hemispherical off-center rotor with barley corn guilloche. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3Hz). The Patek Philippe Grand Complication Minute Repeater Perpetual Calendar 5074J-001 with 18k yellow gold and a black dial was introduced in 2001 and was one of the earliest produced and rarest variations.
