More about Rolex 116900 Air King OMAN KHANJAR Black Dial SS FULL SET

This is an 904L stainless steel Rolex Air King 116900 "Khanjar". The watch was produced specifically for the Sultanate of Oman and carries an engraving of the national emblem (a Khanjar dagger and two crossed swords under the Sultan's crown) on its caseback. It has an integral solid-link 904L steel Oyster bracelet with a folding double deployant Oyster clasp, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. The bracelet includes the Rolex Easylink rapid extension system. There is a polished solid screw-down case back and a screw-down Twinlock double waterproofing system on the winding crown, and it has stop-seconds for precise time setting. The 40mm diameter three-body case, downturned lugs, bracelet, and angled bezel are polished/brushed. The dial is black with luminous applied white gold Arabic numeral hour indices at the quarter hours, luminous painted Arabic numeral minute markers every five minutes, and a luminous triangle at the 12 o'clock position. It has luminous steel Rolex baton hands, and a green center sweep seconds hand. The dial has the glowing Chromalight display with long-lasting blue luminescence. The movement is fitted with an antimagnetic shield, a traditional feature of 1930's pilots’ watches, making it insensitive to 1000 gauss. It has a power reserve of 48-hours at full wind, and it's water resistant to 100 meters/330 feet. The dial bears the name Air-King in the same lettering that was designed specially for the model in the 1950s, and this watch has the Certified Official Superlative Chronometer (COSC) rating. The 13mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.

This Rolex Air King 116900 "Khanjar" has a mechanical automatic Rolex caliber 3131 movement that's rhodium-plated, with fausses cotes and oeil-de-perdrix embellishment. It's constructed with 31 jewels, a monometallic balance that's adjusted to temperature and 5 positions, and a shock absorber device. The straight-line lever escapement utilizes a paramagnetic escape wheel made from an electroformed nickel-phosphorus alloy. It has bidirectional self-winding via a perpetual rotor, and the oscillator has an antimagnetic Rolex blue Parachrom hairspring. It includes a Rolex overcoil regulator. It has a self-compensating free-sprung Breguet balance spring, Microstella regulating screws, and a hacking seconds mechanism for precision time setting.

The Rolex Air King 116900 "Khanjar" was introduced at the Basel World exhibition in Switzerland in 2016. The Sultanate of Oman commissions these watches to use as presentation pieces and gifts expressing the thanks and appreciation of the Sultanate.
