More about GMT Master Transitional Glossy Dial / Oyster Circa 1982

This is a vintage 1982 stainless-steel Rolex GMT Master 16750. It has an integral stainless-steel Jubilee bracelet with a folding deployment clasp and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. It has a signed screw down Triplock winding crown with pointed crown guards and a screw down solid case back, inside of which is engraved "MONTRES ROLEX S.A. – GENEVEA – SWITZERLAND – PATENTED – STAINLESS STEEL - 16750." The 40mm diameter solid 3-body Oyster case, straight hooded lugs, bracelet, and flat unidirectional rotating black aluminum bezel with a silver GMT 24-hour second time zone scale, Arabic numerals on the even hours, and a dive triangle at the 24 position, are polished/brushed. The 40mm diameter solid three-body case, downturned lugs, and bracelet are polished/brushed. The original matte black dial has pointed luminous tritium "Mercedes" style Rolex hour and minute hands, a center sweep second hand with a luminous "lollipop" indicator, and there is a red GMT hand with a luminous arrow tip. It includes luminous evenly aged tritium round, baton, and triangular hour markers, a quick-set date aperture window at the 3 o'clock position underneath a cyclops magnification lens, and there is a white perimeter minute/second scale. It has the Certified Official Superlative Chronometer (COSC) certification, and it has a 50-hour power reserve at full winding. It's water resistant to 100 meters/330 feet, and the 13.5mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Rolex GMT Master 16750 has a mechanical automatic self-winding Rolex caliber 3075 movement that's rhodium plated. It's constructed with 27 jewels, a KIF ultraflex shock absorber mechanism, a straight-line lever escapement, a monometallic balance that's adjusted to temperatures and 5 positions, and a self-compensating Breguet balance-spring. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz). This Rolex GMT Master 16750 was produced from 1982 to 1988. It's an early example of this transitional model that added a quick set date to the original GMT Master.
