More about Submariner RED MK IV Circa 1971 SS/SS

This is a vintage stainless steel Rolex Red Submariner, 1680. It has an integral 93150 stainless steel Oyster link bracelet. The three-body case is polished and brushed with a screw down case back and crown. It has a graduated bidirectional revolving black bezel showing decompression times, and a crown guard protects the Triplock winding crown. The "Top Hat" acrylic crystal has a Cyclops bubble that magnifies the date at 3 o'clock. This has an MKIV black dial and the original luminous steel skeleton hands and dot, triangular, and baton hour index markers. It has a center sweep second hand, an outer track with minute/seconds divisions, and a Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC) certification. It's water resistant to 200 meters (660 feet), and the case, dial, and movement are all signed. The automatic winding Rolex calibre 1570 movement is rhodium-plated with oeil-de-perdrix embellishment. It's constructed with 26 jewels, a shock absorber mechanism, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance adjusted to heat, cold, and 5 positions, a self-compensating free- sprung Breguet balance spring, Microstella regulating screws, and a hacking mechanism.
