Description
This vintage Omega Speedmaster reference 105.003, affectionately known among collectors as the “Ed White,” embodies the raw authenticity of the pre‑Professional era. Produced between approximately 1963 and 1965, it is the last Speedmaster to feature straight lugs and the first to bear the “T Swiss Made T” marking, indicating tritium lume. Measuring approximately 39.7 mm in diameter, its stainless steel case houses the legendary manual‑wind Caliber 321, revered for its column‑wheel chronograph architecture and historical pedigree. The dial, which was originally black, has aged to a beautiful "tropical" brown, adding a layer of individuality prized by seasoned collectors. This reference's provenance is further elevated by its association with NASA and astronaut Ed White, who wore one during the first American spacewalk in 1965. As a transitional model, it bridges the lineage between early Speedmasters and the later “Professional” editions, marking a pivotal moment in the Moonwatch’s evolution. Its manual movement, historical significance, and tropical dial make it a compelling acquisition for connoisseurs seeking both technical excellence and horological heritage. Excellent Condition with European Watch Company leather travel pouch.
