More about Cosmonaute Flyback Automatic
This is a stainless steel Breitling Cosmonaute Flyback A2232212/B567. It has a leather strap with a stainless steel Breitling deployment buckle, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal with anti-glare coating. It has round chronograph push buttons, and a screw-down protected winding crown. The bi-directional knurled edge cupped, rotating white, black, and silver bezel with the patented Breitling slide rule "Navigation Computer" technology allows the computation of different airborne calculations, including climbing times and fuel consumption. It also converts miles into kilometers and nautical miles. There is a solid screw-down case back with a brushed medallion in the center with "BREITLING – 1884," and the anchor winds logo in high relief. Engraved around the polished perimeter are "EDITION SPECIALE LIMITEE A 1000 EXAMPLAIRES – CHRONOGRAPH CERTIFIE CHRONOMETRE ETANCHE 30M – A22322," an edition number, and a serial number. The 41mm diameter solid three-body case, curved lapidated lugs, and complex bezel are polished. The dial is black with luminous Arabic numeral 24-hour hour markers. To help astronauts from getting confused, the hour hand makes one full rotation during a 24 hour period; this was designed for space travel since day and night are meaningless in space. It has luminous baton indices, a date aperture window between 8 and 10-hundred hours, and polished steel baton hands with luminous inserts, and a steel center sweep chronograph second hand with a red arrow tip and a counter balance. It has three recessed silver subsidiary dials, including a running small seconds register at 3 o'clock, a 12-hour chronograph totalizer at 6 o'clock, and a 30-minute indicator at 9 o'clock. It's water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, and it has a 42-hour power reserve at full wind. The 14mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Breitling Cosmonaute Flyback A2232212/B567 has a mechanical automatic self-winding Breitling caliber 22 movement. It's rhodium-plated, and it's constructed with 38 jewels, a shock absorber device, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance, a self-compensating flat balance spring, and the mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz). The Breitling Cosmonaute Flyback A2232212/B567 was introduced in 2011. It was based on the 24-hour watch that Scott Carpenter wore on the Aurora 7 space capsule in 1962.
