This is an 18K yellow gold IWC Portuguese Minute Repeater, 5240-05. It has a leather strap with a matching 18K yellow gold tang buckle, and a Plexiglas crystal. The 42mm diameter solid three-body case, curved fixed bezel, and downturned lugs are polished and brushed. There is a transparent display sapphire case back engraved with "Repetition Minutes" on the edge. The dial is silver with applied yellow gold Arabic numeral hour markers, an outer track with gold dot minute indexes, and gold epee hands. The strike train sounds the chime at the hour, the quarter-hour, and it has a mechanical minute repeater with a rectangular activating slide lever on the left side of the case between the 8 and 10 o'clock position. There is a small constant seconds subsidiary dial at 9 o'clock, and the 12.8mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. The manual winding IWC caliber 95290 movement is rhodium-plated, with fausses cotes embellishment. It's constructed with 54 jewels, a shock absorber mechanism, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance that's adjusted to 5 positions, and a self-compensating Breguet balance spring. The rotor oscillates at a frequency of 18,000 vph. In 2004, IWC expanded the Portuguese family with the addition of a Portuguese Minute Repeater. This evolved version was produced in a limited edition of only 250 examples.
