This Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Aqualung 1000FT 2462 has an automatic self-winding Blancpain caliber military specification AS 1361 movement. It's rhodium-plated, and it's constructed with 17 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, and a shock absorber device. It includes a monometallic balance, a blued steel flat balance-spring, an index regulator, and a signed rotor.

The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Aqualung 1000FT 2462, referred to as the "life saver," due to its wide bezel, was introduced in the mid 1950's. It was originally requested for the French Ministry of Defense for the elite UDT "nageurs de combat" teams.
