This is a vintage 1964-1966 bead-blasted stainless steel Blancpain (Tornek-Rayville) TR900 Milspec Diver. It has a Nylon dive strap with a stainless steel clasp, and an acrylic crystal. It has a screw down solid case back with an outer ring, and it's engraved with "IF FOUND RETURN TO NEAREST MILITARY FACILITY – AEC LICENSE 8-59-10-6 - MIL-W-22176 – DANGER – NON MAGNETIC," and the Radiation Danger Emblem with "RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL." Inside the case back is "TORNAY WATCH CO. – SWISS – STAINLESS STEEL," and because of the "Buy American Act" of 1933, it does not have the Blancpain TM on the dial. This is undoubtedly one of the most important US military watches in history. It includes the original anti-magnetic brass dust cover, and it was produced and sold between 1964-1966 and delivered to the US navy without the Blancpain TM on the dial (due to "Buy American act" of 1933), making it extremely rare. The 40mm diameter solid two-body case, unidirectional rotating flat black bezel with Arabic numerals and markers, and gently curved lugs, are satin/brushed. It includes the original black dial in excellent condition, with an evenly aged luminous patina, on the circle, baton, and triangular hour indices, as well as the steel pointed baton hands. The dial is signed "Tornek - Rayville US," and there is a circular moisture indicator at 6 o clock. There is a luminous center sweep second hand with an arrow tip. It has a power reserve of 38-hours at full winding, it's water resistant to 200 meters/660 feet, and the case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Blancpain (Tornek-Rayville) TR900 Milspec Diver has a mechanical automatic self-winding caliber AS 1361 movement. It's constructed with 17 jewels, an Incabloc anti-shock device, and a straight-line lever escapement. It has a self-compensating flat balance spring, an index regulator, a monometallic Glucydur balance, and the rotor segment is gold-engraved with "TORNEK-RAYVILLE NO TR-900. It has a hacking seconds device for precision time setting, and the mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 18,000 vhp (2.5 Hz). Only around 1,000 Blancpain (Tornek-Rayville) TR900 Milspec Divers were made, and most were then destroyed because the watch made use of Prometheum 147, a radioactive element produced from uranium with a half-life of 2.6234 years. This includes the markers, hands, and numerals, as well as the stern warning on the case back. After these watches were decommissioned and disposed of, this left an estimated 30 examples or less in the hands of collectors. "MILSPEC" is the acronym for "Military Specifications."

I have been dealing with European Watch Company for over ten years, and have purchased several wrist watches, including IWC, Patek Philippe, Rolex, and Jaeger-LeCoultre. They were not only fairly priced but arrived in like-new condition, fully warranted by European Watch Company. This company has an attentive, knowledgeable staff, a large inventory, and is a genuine pleasure to deal with.
Just completed my 7th transaction with EWC and for the 7th time the transaction was smooth, flawless and quick. Joshua is quick to respond to any e-mails and answer any questions. Ashley knows how to complete the necessary paperwork to avoid any delays at Customs as I am located in Canada and all paperwork needs to be completed perfectly which she is an expert at. You only want to deal with the best and the team at EWC is the best. There is a Yiddish word to describe the people at EWC and that word is mensches which translates to people of integrity and honour.
After a lengthy search I located the Patek Philippe I desired at EWC, but the decision to make a high dollar purchase over the internet was a difficult one. Through numerous emails with Justin and looking at reviews of EWC I made the decision to proceed and I am now ECSTATIC. The watch is exactly as described and pictured. It was perfectly packaged and shipped FedEx overnight. My watch collection now includes the watch I have been seeking for over a year.In summary, you can deal with the EWC staff with confidence. They are professional, honest and you will receive a quality watch which will put a smile on your face.
I live in San Francisco but the EWC website is the first place I check once I get an impulse for a particular watch. EWC's website is cozy and feels like home. I enjoy the photos, presentation, description and historical notes of each item and really like their next day delivery, so I stay loyal to them. Sometimes I must wait awhile for a watch to become available but can usually find anything I want. Then there are the watches you never knew you wanted until you see them here.
Dear EWC, I have just completed my very first purchase with your company: a mint Lange Datograph. Robert was extremely help throughout the process with the item delivered nicely packed to my Hong Kong address within days. The condition of the watch was absolutely mint as described and has exceeded my expectations, even under a loupe! I will be a return customer in no time. Well done!
