More about Daytona 18K Yellow Gold / Black MOP Dial

This is an 18K yellow gold Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 16518. It has a leather strap and a matching 18k yellow gold deployant buckle, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. The 40mm diameter solid three-body case, downturned lugs, solid screwed down case back, round chronograph buttons and winding crown are polished/brushed. The Rolex patented Triplock winding crown with the triple waterproofing system is protected by the crown guard. Tachymeter scale graduations are engraved on the fixed bezel measuring up to 400 units per hour. The dial is black mother-of-pearl with applied gold Roman numeral hour index markers, gold baton hands, a center chronograph hand, and an outer minute scale. The three subsidiary dials have distinctive gold rims. There is a small seconds subsidiary dial at 9 o'clock, and 12-hour and 30-minute registers respectively at 9 and 3 o'clock. The chronograph is accurate to within 1/8 second, with stop seconds for precise time setting. This is a superlative chronometer with the COSC certificate from the Control Officiel Suisse des Chronometres testing institute, indicating it has endured the 15-day examination. It's water resistant to 100 meters/330 feet, and the 12mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 16518 has a mechanical automatic self-winding Rolex caliber 4030 movement. It's rhodium-plated, with oeil-de-perdrix embellishment, and it's constructed with 31 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, a shock absorber mechanism, and a monometallic balance adjusted to 6 positions. It includes a self-compensating free sprung Breguet balance spring, 289 components, and Microstella regulating screws. The oscillator has the patented Rolex paramagnetic blue Parachrom hairspring, with bidirectional self-winding via the perpetual rotor that was invented by Rolex in 1931, consisting of a half-moon shaped oscillating weight that pivots freely in both directions on its axle, utilizing the energy of the natural wrist movement. The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 116518 was introduced in 2000. The legendary Cosmograph Daytona was first introduced in 1963 – a professional quality instrument for endurance racing drivers with the tachometric scale for measuring average speed on the bezel. The cluster of triple sub dials was reminiscent of the dashboard of a Ferrari.
