More about Rolex 16618 LAPIS Rolex Submariner 16618 LAPIZ LAZULI 18K Yellow Gold FULL SET WOW

This is an 18K yellow gold Rolex Submariner Lapis Lazuli Dial 16618. It has an integral 18K yellow gold Oyster bracelet (92908) with solid endlinks and a folding deployant clasp. The solid three-body 40mm diameter case is polished and brushed with a screwed down case back and Triplock winding crown protected by a crown guard. The graduated unidirectional revolving bezel is blue with Arabic numerals for the decompression times. It has a rare blue Lapis Lazuli dial with luminous index hour markers, luminous yellow gold skeleton hands, minute and second outer track divisions, and a sapphire scratch resistant crystal with a Cyclops lens for the date aperture at 3 o'clock. It's water resistant to 330 meters/1,000 feet, and the 13mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.

The automatic self-winding Rolex caliber 3135 movement is rhodium plated with oeil-de-perdrix embellishment. It's constructed with 31 jewels, and a shock absorber mechanism. It includes a straight-line lever escapement, and a monometallic balance adjusted to temperatures and 5 positions. It has a self-compensating free-sprung Breguet balance spring, Microstella regulating screws, and a central hacking seconds mechanism.

Rolex debuted their first submariner in 1953 and this Lapis dialed variant is an extremely rare and desirable model.
