It has an integral stainless steel folded link 7836 Rolex Oyster bracelet with 282 end links, a stainless steel deployant clasp with a date stamp of 4/70, and an acrylic crystal. It has a solid screw-down case back engraved with "Original Oyster Case by Rolex Geneva," and a "700 Series" screw-down Oyster winding crown protected by a crown guard. These "700 Series" crowns were only fitted to the earliest batches of this model produced. It has screw-down chronograph pushbuttons and a fixed bakelite bezel with a tachymeter scale to 500 UPH. The dial is grey with twin black subsidiary dials with orange accents, including a constant seconds register at 9 o'clock, and a 45-minute chronograph dial at the 3 o'clock position. There is an outer 1/5th seconds scale with 5 minute/second orange Arabic markers. It has an aperture window for the date underneath a Cyclops magnification bubble at 6 o'clock. It has Luminous steel baton hands, and an orange chronograph hand. The 13mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.

The mechanical manual winding Valjoux 7734 movement is rhodium-plated. It's constructed with 17 jewels, a shock absorber device, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance and a self-compensating flat balance spring.

Along with the 7032, the 7031 Home Plate Chronograph was the very first chronograph model that Tudor produced. Introduced in 1970, this particular example dates to the early period of the model's production run.
