Description
The Habring2 Foudroyante 2010 is an early expression of the brand's technical independence, introduced around 2010 with a complication pairing that was highly unusual then and remains distinctive now. Habring2 built the watch around caliber A07F, an automatic movement based on the ETA Valgranges train gear, but extensively reworked to deliver the patented dead beat center seconds and a flashing foudroyante display at 9 o'clock. That combination matters because it joins two rarely seen seconds indications in one restrained, classically proportioned watch rather than presenting them as a theatrical complication. The silver dial suits the reference well, keeping the emphasis on the mechanics and the unusual display architecture rather than visual excess. Habring's approach has long favored functional innovation, serviceability, and robust construction over decorative spectacle, and the A07F sits squarely in that philosophy. In period catalogs, the model was offered in a 42mm case and on a calfskin strap, underscoring its position as a serious independent watch with everyday wearability rather than a fragile concept piece. Collectors who know Richard Habring's work will recognize the continuity here with his broader interest in practical complications and mechanically legible displays. There is no evidence that this was a country-specific or boutique-only limited edition, so the watch is best understood as a standard production Habring2 complication model from the brand's formative modern era. For buyers focused on independent watchmaking, the Foudroyante 2010 stands out less for rarity claims than for the credibility of its engineering and the uncommon way it visualizes the passing of each second. Excellent Condition with Habring box and undated papers.
