Description

The IWC Ingenieur 9503/9232 is a rare and distinguished example of the celebrated Ingenieur SL "Jumbo" series, crafted circa 1978. Its tonneau-shaped 18K yellow gold case, measuring approximately 40 mm in diameter and around 12 mm thick, houses the antimagnetic inhouse automatic Caliber 8541 B-an advanced movement featuring a rhodium plated, oeil de perdrix finish, 28 jewels, and precision adjustment in five positions. The champagne dial is elegantly appointed with applied luminous yellow gold baton indices, a date aperture at 3 o'clock, and luminous accents that enhance legibility. Produced in extremely limited numbers-examples in full 18K yellow gold were made only for about two years-this model stands among the most coveted within the Ingenieur lineage. Its combination of Genta design, robust antimagnetic engineering, and rarity make it a compelling choice for seasoned collectors seeking both horological significance and investment-grade scarcity. Excellent condition with IWC box, service papers dated 2021, and Excerpt from the Archives dated 1979.
