This Laurent Ferrier Galet Annual Calendar Montre École Vintage is one of just five pieces, and its story begins at the very start of its maker's career. The Montre École case recalls the graduation watch required of students at the Geneva Watchmaking School, the piece Ferrier completed in 1968 before four decades at Patek Philippe, where he rose to creative director. For the collector who wants a genuine personal history behind a watch, this one has it written into the case itself. It is driven by the hand-wound calibre LF126.01, the brand's fifth in-house movement and first calendar complication, adapted from the calibre of his Tourbillon Double Spiral and configured as an annual calendar whose layout recalls the triple calendars of the 1940s and 1950s. The stainless steel case measures 40mm by 40mm and 12.8mm in thickness, its smooth pebble profile sitting easily beneath a cuff. The champagne opaline dial echoes the matte-finished watches of the same period. The model that launched this family took the Men's Complication prize at the 2018 GPHG, and this rare edition carries that honor in its quietest form.
