The Roundup: the “Lights, Camera, Action!” Edition
The Roundup

Each week, EWC will be gathering horological industry news, cultural conversations and moments surrounding our favorite topic: timepieces. Happy Friday; here’s what’s on our watch.
Don’t worry, it’s not award season again (though it will be around the corner before we know it). Instead, as the holidays roll closer, the cinema is primed for new releases to enjoy with family and friends as we close out the year. Yes, the decorations are going up, football season is in full swing, and the combination of shorter days and crisp air simply makes you want to curl up with a good book. What does this all have to do with watches? Let’s get into it…
On and Off Screen
Spotted on wrists this week were some major players (literally and metaphorically). Kicking off the week for Sunday football, the Kansas City Chiefs stomped the Las Vegas Raiders – is it possible Patrick Mahomes’ Hublot Spirit of Big Bang White Ceramic is in fact his good luck charm?
Monday, the worldwide premieres of Netflix’s new film Frankenstein continued in New York City. Star Jacob Elordi sported yet another Cartier for the occasion. At the Paris screening earlier this month, the young actor wore a rare yellow-gold Cartier Tank à Guichets with a green leather strap. Back on American soil, Elordi opted for a platinum version of the model on a classic black strap.
Later on Monday evening, over on the west coast, the 5th annual fundraising gala for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures took place in Los Angeles. The gala was generously presented in partnership with Rolex—Founding Supporter and Official Watch Partner of the Academy Museum. However, one of Hollywood’s biggest celebrities was spotted in Omega for the occasion. George Clooney introduced a special musical performance by Bruce Springsteen while wearing a stainless steel De Ville Hour Vision 41 mm on leather strap.

At the Library

The Watch Library Foundation was founded four years ago with the goal to document, preserve, and share watchmaking archives to keep them alive for future generations. A year later, the organization was recognized as a public-interest foundation and part of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage. This week, the Watch Library Foundation announced a new milestone. The non-profit is now under the patronage of the Federal Office of Culture (OFC), marking a meaningful recognition of its cultural mission.
For the Wrist

Of course, what would the week be without new watches? Zenith got the fall memo with a gorgeously seasonal rose gold version of its Defy Skyline Tourbillon. The autumnal color scheme extends to the brick red dial, with the option of a matching rubber strap or rose gold bracelet.

More homage pieces continue to roll out honoring Ahmed Seddiqi's 75th Anniversary. MB&F gives us two limited editions: the LM Perpetual EVO & LM Perpetual Baguette Diamonds. In addition, Ulysse Nardin offers up a limited edition version of its Diver [Air] to mark the occasion.

In New York City, Chanel hosted an intimate dinner at the recently opened Chateau Royale to toast its latest timepiece: the Première Galon. Meanwhile, Hermès took to its newest and first ever boutique in Nashville with a fitting tribute. This special version of the Arceau celebrates the city’s musical heritage through two interpretations adorned with miniature paintings of guitars.

Panerai debuted the Luminor GMT Ceramica PAM01460, marking the first time the brand’s signature 40mm Luminor case is crafted in ceramic material. Last but certainly not least, Vacheron Constantin presented something for the ladies with three new interpretations of its Grand Lady Kalla watches.
