This is an 18K yellow gold IWC Portuguese Chronograph Rattrapante IW3712. It has an alligator leather strap with a matching 18K yellow gold tang buckle, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. It has a pull-out signed winding crown, "mushroom" style split second chronograph push buttons, and a return push button for the split-seconds function at 10 o'clock on the left side case band. There is a solid case back secured with 4 screws engraved with "INTERNATIONAL WATCH CO. THE 41mm diameter round solid three-body case, curved lugs, and thin convex bezel, are polished/brushed. The dial is silver with applied yellow gold Arabic numeral hour markers and pip hour indices on a black dot minute/chronograph second scale, and around the perimeter on an angled rehaut is a black 1/5 second chronograph scale with Arabic numerals every five seconds. It includes rose gold feuille leaf hour and minute hands and a center sweep chronograph seconds hand. There are two recessed black subsidiary dials with black Arabic numerals and markers, including a small constant running seconds register at 6 o'clock with a gold indicator hand, and a 30-minute split-second chronograph totalizer with a blued indicator hand at 12 o'clock. It's water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, it has a 44-hour power reserve at full winding, and the 13mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This IWC Portuguese Chronograph Rattrapante IW371204 has a mechanical manual winding IWC caliber C76240 (base ETA caliber 7750/7760 with a rattrapante module created by Richard Habring) movement that's gilt brass with oeil-de-perdrix embellishment. It's constructed with 27 jewels, blued screws, a straight-line lever escapement, and a shock absorber mechanism. It has a monometallic balance adjusted to 5 positions, a self-compensating flat balance spring, and a hacking seconds mechanism for precise time setting. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3Hz). The IWC Portuguese Chronograph Rattrapante IW371204 was released in 1995 and it was produced until 2004.
