This Cartier Tortue Monopoussoir comes from the Collection Privée Cartier Paris, the celebrated line that re-established the house as a serious watchmaker after decades known mainly for jewellery and quartz. Its real distinction lies within, the hand wound calibre 045 MC, a single button chronograph built by THA Ébauche, the short lived workshop founded by François-Paul Journe, Vianney Halter and Denis Flageollet, and one of the most storied movements ever fitted to a Cartier. The lone pusher sits in the crown, in the manner of the earliest Cartier chronographs. The 18 carat yellow gold case takes the tortoise form at 43mm long and 34mm wide, 10.2mm thick, wearing softly thanks to its curves. The dial is silver, with a fine guilloché ground and slim Roman numerals. Few CPCP references are chased as hard as this one.
