This Ulysse Nardin San Marco "Achille," reference 139-10, is a rare example of the maison's celebrated enamel artistry, presented in platinum and limited to 30 pieces. Its defining feature is the hand-made cloisonné enamel dial, which depicts a tall ship under full sail crossing a deep blue sea, passing a stone coastal tower — a scene built up through an ancient and painstaking craft in which fine gold wires are bent to outline the design, forming compartments that are then filled with coloured enamel and fired over many firings. Powered by the automatic, chronometer-certified calibre UN-27, it keeps a deliberately simple time-only display so nothing competes with the picture. The platinum case measures 40mm across and 11mm in thickness, its clean polished form framing the miniature enamel painting at its centre. A watch collected first and foremost as a piece of wearable art.
